The kitchen has more fragile and oddly shaped items than any other room. Start packing at least 3-4 days before your move date. Begin with items you rarely use — specialty appliances, extra crockery, and seasonal cookware.
You will need bubble wrap, packing paper, sturdy boxes in multiple sizes, foam dividers for glasses, and strong tape. Never use newspaper directly on dishes — the ink transfers.
Pack plates vertically like records, not stacked flat. Each plate should be individually wrapped in packing paper. Vertical stacking reduces pressure and breakage risk significantly.
Use cell divider boxes designed for glasses. Stuff the inside of each glass with crumpled paper for extra cushioning. Fill any empty space in the box to prevent shifting.
Original boxes are best for appliances. If unavailable, wrap in bubble wrap and pack tightly with no room to move. Remove detachable parts, wrap them separately, and tape them to the main unit.
Mark every box with its contents, destination room, and FRAGILE if needed. This saves significant time during unpacking and helps our team handle your boxes with appropriate care.
