How to Choose Packers and Movers in Bangalore: A 6-Point Checklist
Search “packers and movers Bangalore” and you will see hundreds of results: brokers, apps, single-truck operators and a handful of established companies. Many people pick whoever answers first or quotes the lowest number, which is rarely the best way to choose. This guide is a practical checklist for vetting any mover, including us.
1. Check Whether They Are Certified
“ISO certified” is used loosely in this industry. ISO 9001:2015 is a quality-management certification: an independent body audits a company’s documented processes for consistency. It does not guarantee that nothing will go wrong, but it leaves a verifiable trail, unlike a badge on a website with no registration number behind it. Ask for the certificate and the name of the certifying body. You can see ours on our certifications page.
2. Read Reviews the Right Way
A few 5-star reviews mean little on their own. Look for volume and recency together: several hundred reviews built up over years, with a mix of ratings and specific details such as a locality, a date or a crew member’s name. Vague, repetitive reviews deserve caution. Compare the same company on Google, JustDial and its own website, and ask about any large differences.
3. Insist on a Written Quote
A verbal “around ₹8,000-10,000” gives you nothing to point to if the final bill is higher. A good mover sends a written quote by email or WhatsApp that itemises packing materials, labour, transport, loading, unloading and any distance charges. If a company won’t put a number in writing before the move, that tells you something. If your requirements change, such as extra items or no lift, the quote should be revised in writing before moving day.
4. Ask About Insurance and Claims
Accidents can happen even with careful crews. Ask whether the goods are covered by transit insurance and what the claims process is if something is damaged. A mover with a real policy can explain the steps clearly.
5. Ask Whether They Own Their Trucks
Some listings and apps take your booking and pass it to an independent operator, so the company you booked is not always the one that shows up. That is not automatically bad, but it makes accountability less clear. Ask directly: “Do you own your trucks and employ your crew, or do you subcontract?”
6. Look for Vehicle Tracking
For longer moves, especially interstate ones that take days, being able to see where your goods are matters. GPS tracking is common among established movers, so ask about it.
Warning Signs
- A quote far below every other estimate. Fuel, labour and materials cost real money, so a very low quote may mean corners cut or extra charges later.
- No physical address, or one that doesn’t match the website.
- A demand for full payment in cash before any work starts. A reasonable advance to confirm a booking is normal.
- No written agreement covering your move details, price and date.
Questions to Ask Before You Book
- Can I see your ISO certification and registration details?
- Will I get a written quote covering all charges?
- Do you own your vehicles and employ your crew directly?
- Is there transit insurance, and what is the claims process?
- Can I track the vehicle on moving day?
- What happens if something is damaged?
