To help detect spam, we collect the comments from data, IP addresses, and browser user agent strings from visitors.

To check if you use Gravatar, your email address can be hashed. https://automattic.com/privacy/ has Gravatar’s privacy policy. Your profile picture appears with your comment after approval.

Media

Avoid uploading EXIF GPS-encoded images to the website. Website visitors can download images and extract location data.

Forms Cookies

Leave a comment on our site to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These save your information for future comments. Cookies last a year.

Our login page sets a temporary biscuit to check if your browser accepts cookies. This non-personal biscuit is deleted when you close your browser.

We set several cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences when you log in. Screen options cookies last a year and login cookies two days. “Remember Me” keeps your login for two weeks. Logout removes login cookies.

Editing or publishing an article adds a biscuit to your browser. This biscuit contains only the post ID of the article you edited. 1 day expires.

Embedded content

This site may embed content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content behaves the same as if the visitor visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and track your interaction with embedded content, including if you’re logged in.

Comment metadata is kept forever. This allows us to recognise and approve follow-up comments without moderation.

User profiles contain personal information for registered users. Any user can view, edit, or delete their personal data (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can view and edit that data.

What are your data rights?

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data, including data you provided us. We can also delete your personal data. This excludes data required for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
